96 Hours Power on Pouvoir 2
Tecno Pouvoir 2 Review: Android Phone with 5000mAh Battery for 4 Days Usage
Pouvoir is a new line of Tecno smartphones introduced in 2018. The name sounds French, and that makes me wonder if it’s connected to the reason the first generation isn’t available in Nigeria, an English country.
The device may seem familiar at first look and that’s because it looks just like Tecno Camon X. The most prominent feature of the dual SIM phone is its large capacity battery. No wonder its the most promoted feature.
This isn’t a surprise as its one of the features to consider these days before getting a smartphone, especially in Nigeria where constant power supply is a major challenge.

Display
Pouvoir 2 has a similar display as Camon X. It comes with the trending bezel-less design with a large 6-inch display. This provides a more realistic view when watching movies or playing HD games.
Even more interesting is the 18:9 aspect ratio that compliments the 1440 x 720 pixels display. You’re sure to get excellent color production and crystal clear images with this IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen.
I noticed that the screen itself has sharp edges, unlike the curved edges found on the bezel-less Infinix Hot 6.

Design
The device is enclosed in a metal body that comes with curved edges to easily fit in your hands and pocket. It’s a slim phone that weighs 150g. I don’t consider the weight to be too much given the large battery that’s packed with it.
The rear sports a vertical arrangement of the camera first, the LED flashlight, followed by the fingerprint scanner. A visible “TECNO” inscription is embossed right beneath the scanner.
Tecno Pouvoir 2 has dual antenna bands carefully placed on the top and bottom of the rear. This is another trend found in several smartphones. The device is available in 3 colors: Champagne Gold, City Blue, and Midnight Black.
Processor & Memory
Right under the hood, it’s powered by an MTK processor, which a lot of users believe is old-fashioned. And yes, it clocks at 1.3GHz.
The processor combines with the 2GB RAM to make multitasking seamless. A 16GB internal memory is packed with it for storage of images, videos, and other files. But I’m still wondering why Tecno had to limit it to 16GB instead of 32GB.
This is, however, not much of a problem since there’s an external SD card slot to expand the space to 128GB. We can’t complain much since we have an option.
Software
The smartphone is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo right out of the box. This is a good thing since you’ll be getting an excellent UI and optimized performance.
For security measures, fingerprint scanner alone seems not to be enough anymore. Pouvoir 2 comes with the Face ID technology alongside a fingerprint sensor to protect your device from unwanted users.
Don’t worry about having a slow internet connection. The 4G LTE support will make sure you browsing speed is as fast as possible.
Camera
It sports a 13MP rear camera that’s placed above an LED flash for good lighting. This combination is similar to that of Tecno Spark Plus K9. I love that the 8MP front camera is also accompanied by an LED flash. This is good news for selfie lovers.
Battery
Here comes the most advertised feature; the battery. Tecno Pouvoir 2 is fueled by a large capacity 5000mAh non-removable battery. The company claims that this battery has up to 96 hours (4 days) standby time. What this means is that the battery can last up to 4 days after a complete charge with little or no usage.
The battery can also last up to 10 hours on video playback. This is a good deal.
With this battery capacity, expect to use your device for several hours on heavy usage before needing to plug it to any power source again.
