The Ogun State Police Command says it has put in place a
formidable security arrangement to forestall any breach of security in
any part of the state during and after the Easter celebration.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola
Oyeyemi, said the command had tactically deployed personnel from its
various arms to the length and breath of the state to ensure a
hitch-free celebration.
He said the command was not oblivious of the fact that the
state hosts the headquarters of various religious bodies and there would
be influx of people from different parts of the country and even from
outside the country.
He said, “We are leaving no stone unturned in order to secure lives and properties of residents as well as that of the visitors.
“A large number of policemen has been tactically deployed
by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, across the length and
breadth of the state with a clear mandate of ensuring crime free Easter
celebration. “
Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said men of
special units such as Federal Anti-Robbery Squad, Police Mobile Force
and Anti-kidnapping section are also being deployed to nip in the bud
any violent crime that may want to rare its ugly head.”
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, while
felicitating with the christian faithful in the state urged them to
reflect on the reason for crucifixion of our lord Jesus Christ and be
good ambassadors of Christ always.
He also appealed to members of the public to alert the
police whenever they noticed any strange faces, gathering or movement in
their area in order to assist the security agencies to perform their
duty to the optimal level, “as security is everybody’s business.”
