Biafra | Governor Umahi trying to please ‘Hausa-Fulani’ – MASSOB.
The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, on Thursday, claimed that the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, was “trying to pacify” “Hausa-Fulani” by advising Igbos against the sit-at-home protest on May 30.
Recall that various pro-Biafra groups had ordered people of the South East to sit-at-home on May 30 as part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of Biafra.
The pro-Biafra group had also ordered the closure of markets and restriction of movement on that date.
But Umahi, who is the Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, had advised against the planned protest.
However, MASSOB leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, warned governors of the South-East states against any attempt to sabotage the sit-at-home protest.
In a statement, Madu said, “The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra has lambasted the Governor of Ebonyi State for his utterances against the choice of our sit-at-home exercise in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Biafra declaration by General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
“We think he is trying to pacify the Hausa-Fulani.
“MASSOB advices South-East governors to shun any external pressure from Hausa-Fulani leaders who are not comfortable with the rising pro-Biafra consciousness in Igboland.
“Igbo governors should not panic or try to sabotage the closure of markets and other business premises.
“MASSOB admonishes that for the sake of General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, there shall not be any movement from 6am to 5pm on 30th May, 2017.”
